Banana Bread
Golden-crusted loaf with a soft, moist crumb and deep sweet banana flavor in every bite.
Ingrédients
- 3 very ripe bananas · peeled and mashed — the blacker the peel, the sweeter the bread
- 1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter · melted and slightly cooled
- 1 egg · beaten
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Préparation
- 1
Prep the oven and pan
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a standard 9x5-inch loaf pan with butter or nonstick spray.
- 2
Mash the bananas
In a large bowl, mash the peeled ripe bananas with a fork until mostly smooth — a few small lumps are fine and add texture.
- 3
Mix the wet ingredients
Stir the melted butter into the mashed bananas until combined. Add the beaten egg, sugar, and vanilla extract and stir well.
- 4
Add the dry ingredients
Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over the wet mixture and stir them in. Add the flour and fold gently with a spatula just until no dry streaks remain — do not overmix or the loaf will be tough.
- 5
Bake
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake on the center rack for 55-65 minutes, until the top is deep golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean with just a few moist crumbs.
- 6
Cool and slice
Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack. Allow it to cool for at least another 10 minutes before slicing so the crumb sets properly.
