Spaghetti on Toast

   Toast the bread

   Toast the bread slices in a toaster or under the broiler until golden and crisp on both sides.

   Heat the spaghetti

   While the bread toasts, empty the canned spaghetti into a small saucepan. Warm over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until hot and gently bubbling.

   Butter the toast

   As soon as the toast is done, spread softened butter generously over each slice while still hot so it melts in.

   Spoon and serve

   Place two slices of buttered toast on each plate. Ladle the hot spaghetti generously over the toast. Finish with black pepper and cheddar if using. Serve immediately.
