Baked Beans on Toast
Smoky, saucy beans in rich tomato sauce spooned over thick buttered toast — hearty, simple, and deeply satisfying.
10 min2 servings
Ingredients
- 28 oz canned baked beans · two 14-oz cans, Heinz or similar
- 4 piece thick-cut white bread
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter · softened
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- black pepper · freshly ground, to taste
Directions
- 1
Warm the beans
Pour the canned beans into a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce. Heat for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce is bubbling and slightly thickened.
- 2
Toast the bread
While the beans heat, toast the bread slices until golden and firm — a sturdy toast holds the beans without going soggy.
- 3
Butter the toast
Immediately spread softened butter over each hot slice so it melts in fully.
- 4
Plate and season
Place two slices of buttered toast on each plate. Spoon the hot beans generously over the top. Finish with a good crack of black pepper and serve straight away.
