Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef · 80/20 blend
  • 1 yellow onion · diced
  • 2 carrots · peeled and diced
  • 2 garlic cloves · minced
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas · thawed
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 refrigerated pie crusts · contains 2 crusts

Directions

  1. 1

    Prep the oven and crust

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F. Line a 9-inch pie dish with one of the pie crusts and set it aside.

  2. 2

    Brown the beef and veggies

In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until the beef is browned. Drain any excess fat, then stir in the carrots and garlic, cooking for 3 more minutes.

  3. 3

    Build the gravy

Sprinkle the flour over the meat mixture and stir for 1 minute. Gradually pour in the beef broth, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens into a rich gravy. Season with salt and pepper.

  4. 4

    Finish the filling

Remove the skillet from the heat and fold in the thawed peas. Let the filling cool for about 5 minutes, then pour it into the prepared pie crust.

  5. 5

    Top and bake

Place the second pie crust over the filling, pinch the edges to seal, and cut a few slits in the top for steam to escape. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until the crust is deep golden brown.
