80 min8 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 lb lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb ground beef · 80/20 blend
  • 24 oz marinara sauce
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 16 oz mozzarella cheese · shredded
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese · grated
  • 1 egg · large
  • 2 garlic · minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano

Directions

  1. 1

    Cook the noodles

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package directions until al dente, then drain and lay them flat on a sheet of parchment paper so they do not stick.

  2. 2

    Make the meat sauce

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and minced garlic, breaking the meat apart until browned. Drain any excess fat, then stir in the marinara sauce and dried oregano. Simmer for 5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Prepare the cheese filling

In a medium bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, parmesan cheese, and egg. Mix well until smooth and set aside.

  4. 4

    Assemble the lasagna

Spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Layer 3 noodles over the sauce, spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, and top with a third of the mozzarella. Repeat the layers twice, ending with a final layer of noodles, the remaining meat sauce, and the remaining mozzarella.

  5. 5

    Bake the lasagna

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the oven at 375 degrees F for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 15 to 20 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbling.

  6. 6

    Rest and serve

Remove the lasagna from the oven and let it rest for 15 minutes before slicing. This allows the layers to set so they do not fall apart when served.
