Homemade Pepperoni Pizza
Crispy golden crust topped with tangy tomato sauce, melted bubbly mozzarella, and spicy pepperoni.
Ingredients
- 1 cup warm water · about 110 degrees
- 2.25 tsp active dry yeast
- 2.5 cups all-purpose flour · plus more for dusting
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 cup pizza sauce · store-bought or homemade
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup pepperoni slices
Directions
- 1
Bloom the yeast
In a large bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes until the mixture becomes foamy.
- 2
Make and rise the dough
Stir in the olive oil and salt. Gradually add the flour, mixing until a shaggy dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for 5 minutes until smooth. Place in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
- 3
Preheat and shape
Preheat your oven to 475 degrees. Punch down the risen dough and stretch or roll it out onto a greased 12-inch pizza pan or pizza stone.
- 4
Assemble the pizza
Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a half-inch border for the crust. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella evenly over the sauce, then top with pepperoni slices.
- 5
Bake to perfection
Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly browned.
